Stari Grad ” Old Town ” of Sarajevo

Stari Grad is where I enjoyed shopping for traditional , handmade or vintage products and having DELICIOUS bosnian food !  I’ve been to Stari Grad more than 5 times which almost everyday when I was in Bosnia ( Sarajevo ) last month ! and yet eveytime I was there I discover new little shops hidden in the narrow paved streets ! what’s Stari Grad ? its the old town in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. At its heart is the Baščaršija, the old town market sector where the city was founded by the Ottomans in the 15th century.

Baščaršija is the old bazaar and the historical and cultural center of the city which is located in  Stari Grad …while walking in that area you will see several important historic buildings, such as the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque and sahat-kula.

Today Baščaršija is the major tourist attraction of Sarajevo…  going Stari Grad or Baščaršija all will lead you to the same place. The best thing to do is go around and wander to discover the streets! although it was freezing but yet I fell in love with those streets , the small shops, the people , the cafes, the restaurant and even the historical buildings … one of the streets will take you straight to the city downtown shopping area ! you just have to walk for while which I didn’t find hard to do when it was snowing 😛 also I think there is a tram station close by ..you could reach the place by tram 🙂  I will be reviewing some places ( shops and restaurants ) because they just deserve to be introduced to you to know them if you’re going to visit Bosnia you should have them on your list 🙂 I know I haven’t seen anything and going there everytime to find  a new thing proves that there is still alot out there to see …. Now I will be taking you into a tour to the market to know what to expect when you’re there ! carry alot of cash when you go there Update : the bosnian Marka ( Mark ) is accept so as the Euro , for example 50 Euro is 100 BAM ( Bosnian Mark). Now …. Yallah are you ready guys ? Lets Go ;D

there are some parking lots around Stari Grad  , and now I remember location of the best parking 🙂 but I have to be there to show you the way ..yeah its that easy ..the roads are so easy to memorize 🙂

for the winter Olympics that went back in the 80’s in Sarajevo 🙂

I guess that’s all for this post 🙂 I know so many photos but its really hard to choose which to post ! wish I could gather you all from around the world and do a presentation about bosnia 😛 that would be easier 🙂 one more thing, its ok to bargain when buying so products from the old town at some shops only !  and sometimes you get a little gift if you buy a lot of stuff ..some sellers where so kind that they gave me the option to choose my small gift from a collection and some give you a gift from their choice 🙂

Stari Grad …the Old Market and town of Sarajevo is a MUST ! amooot 3la hl sowalif fi kil deerah a7b amer el sooq el sh3bii ! its the mind to be with the locals to know more about the country to lose your mind 😛 and soul ! the smell of the food runs to your nose ! lots of restaurants, cafes , historical buildings and a big variety of shops that sell souvinirs or handmade stuff !

Big thanks to Emir ( from Bosnia – who is living in Kuwait ) for correcting some of the information I posted erlier . appreciate it 🙂

Coming up next a stop at Sara’s !!! girls you are SOOOOO gonna love it 🙂 who’s Sara ?

As far as the currency exchange rates it is vice-versa 50 EUR is 100 BAM (Bosnian Mark) but even easier is 1 KD = 5 BAM
